Generating Insights

Create AI-powered insights from your data.

Generate Insights is an AI-powered feature in Intelogos that analyzes the data on your screen and produces a summary of the most important findings. Instead of spending time reviewing every metric yourself, you can press a single button and get an instant, tailored report highlighting what matters most.

Who Can Use It?

Generate Insights is available to Owners, Admins, and Managers. Regular users will not see the button.

Where to Find It

The Generate Insights button (a magic wand icon) appears in the top-right corner of the header on most pages in Intelogos:

  • Dashboard — organization-wide performance overview
  • Profile — individual user performance (also available for Chronicle)
  • Team — group and department comparisons
  • Daily — single-day activity snapshots
  • Reports — custom advanced reports

The button is not available on the User Management, Background Agents, or Settings pages.

How to Use It

Step 1: Set Your Context

Before generating insights, make sure the page reflects the data you want analyzed. The AI reads exactly what is on your screen, so adjust the available controls to match your goal. The options you can adjust depend on the page:

  • All pages — choose the date range you care about (last 7 days, last 30 days, a custom range, etc.)
  • Dashboard, Team, Daily, Reports — apply filters (department, project, manager) to narrow the data
  • Team — set your preferred grouping (by department, job title, project, or manager) and sorting
  • Daily — select the specific date and category
  • Reports — configure your report items, grouping, and sorting
  • Profile and Chronicle — the date range is the main control; there are no additional filters or groupings to set

Step 2: Click the Magic Wand

Press the Generate Insights button in the top-right corner of the header. A full-screen dialog opens immediately and the report begins streaming in real time — you can start reading as it appears.

Step 3: Review the Report

The AI generates a structured report that typically includes:

  • Executive summary — a quick snapshot of the key takeaways
  • KPI analysis — current values, benchmarks, and trends for core metrics
  • Top performers — who is excelling and in what areas
  • Tool usage breakdown — how time is distributed across primary, secondary, and distracting tools
  • Behavioral patterns — unusual activity, after-hours work, or sudden changes
  • Recommendations — prioritized action items (immediate, short-term, long-term)
  • Risk assessment — burnout, engagement, and retention risks with severity levels

Step 4: Ask Follow-Up Questions

After the report is generated, you will see a text input field at the bottom of the insights screen. Use it to ask follow-up questions about anything in the report. For example:

  • "What should I do about this team member's declining engagement?"
  • "Can you explain the burnout risk in more detail?"
  • "How much time was spent in Slack vs. Jira?"

This lets you dig deeper into the data without leaving the dialog.

Step 5: Copy or Share

Click the Copy button (clipboard icon) in the dialog header to copy the full report as markdown. You can paste it into Slack, Notion, email, Google Docs, or any tool that supports formatted text.

Customizing the Insights Prompt

By default, the AI analyzes all data on the page and decides what to highlight. If you want the report to focus on specific areas, you can customize the prompt.

  1. Open the insights dialog by clicking the magic wand.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the dialog.
  3. In the Custom Prompt text field, describe what you want the AI to focus on. For example: "Focus on how much time was spent in Slack and ChatGPT, and flag anyone with declining productivity."
  4. Click Save.

The next time you generate insights, the AI will follow your custom instructions. Your prompt is saved across sessions, so you only need to set it once. To go back to the default behavior, open the prompt dialog again and click Reset.

When to Use Generate Insights

Here are practical scenarios where this feature saves you the most time.

Preparing for 1-on-1 Meetings

Navigate to the Employee page for the person you're meeting with, set the date range to the last 1–2 weeks, and generate insights. You'll get a data-backed summary of their work patterns, engagement, and areas of concern — ready-made talking points in seconds.

Weekly Team Check-Ins

Open the Dashboard or Team page with a 7-day range and generate insights. The report highlights who performed well, which areas need attention, and any risks across your team. Share the summary in your team channel or use it to guide the conversation.

Investigating an Unusual Day

If something seemed off on a particular day — low activity, unusual hours, or unexpected tool usage — go to the Daily page, select that date, and generate insights. The AI will break down what happened, who was affected, and what stood out.

Quarterly Performance Reviews

Set a 3-month date range on the Dashboard or Profile page and generate insights. The report provides trend analysis, KPI benchmarks, and prioritized recommendations that can feed directly into performance review documents.

Comparing Teams or Departments

On the Team page, group by department and sort by the metric you care about (e.g., productivity or engagement). Generate insights to get a structured comparison across groups, including which teams are excelling and which may need support.

Analyzing Custom Reports

If you've built a custom report on the Reports page with specific columns and groupings, generate insights to get an AI-written narrative of what the numbers mean — trends, outliers, and recommended next steps.

Quick Daily Catch-Up

If you don't have time to review the full dashboard yourself, open the Dashboard, make sure your filters are set, and press the magic wand. In under a minute, you'll have a summary that catches the most important points so nothing slips through.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of It

  • Set your filters first. The AI analyzes what's on your screen. If you want insights about a specific department, filter to that department before pressing the button.
  • Use custom prompts for recurring needs. If you always want the report to focus on certain metrics or patterns, save a custom prompt so every report is tailored to your priorities.
  • Generate reports regularly. Weekly or bi-weekly insights help you spot trends early before they become problems.
  • Copy reports for your records. Paste insights into a shared document over time to build a history of how your team's performance evolves.
  • Combine with Ask AI. Use Generate Insights for structured page-level reports, and Ask AI for freeform conversational questions when you need to explore data in a different way.

Troubleshooting

IssueWhat to do
Button not visibleEnsure you are an Owner, Admin, or Manager, and that you are on a supported page.
Report doesn't reflect my filtersApply your filters and date range before clicking the button — the AI uses whatever is active at the moment you click.
Report shows "No report data available"There may not be enough data for the selected range. Try expanding the date range or removing restrictive filters.
Report seems incompleteWait for the loading indicator to disappear. The report streams in chunks, so it may still be generating.
