What is time and attendance software?

Time and attendance software records when employees work, how many hours they put in and when they are absent or on leave, so managers can check attendance and prepare hours for payroll. Many systems rely on punch clocks, kiosks or mobile clock-in apps.

Intelogos is built for teams that work on computers, in the office or remotely: it records each workday automatically, compares hours with expected work hours and manages time off in the same place.

How it works

Time and attendance tracking in five steps

Hours are recorded from computer activity instead of punch clocks or timesheets, and managers review attendance against the work hours you set.

  1. 1

    Deploy the tracking agent

Admins deploy background agents to company computers, where tracking runs automatically, or employees install the desktop agent and control a visible timer. The agent records when the workday starts and ends, breaks, idle periods and the apps and websites used.

    Understanding agents
  2. 2

    Set expected work hours

Choose workdays and hours per day for the company, and add custom policies for specific people or departments. Availability then shows how much of the expected time each person actually worked.

    How Availability is calculated
  3. 3

    Decide how idle time counts

Set how many minutes without keyboard or mouse activity count as idle, with a longer threshold for meeting and chat apps if you need one, and choose whether idle time is saved or discarded. Desktop agent users can be asked to keep or discard it themselves.

    Idle time settings
  4. 4

    See who worked, and when

The Daily page shows each person's hours for a single day on a 24-hour activity chart. Reports cover any date range, count full, short and absent days, and export to CSV or Excel for payroll.

    Daily page guide
  5. 5

    Manage time off

Employees request leave in days or hours, managers approve or decline, and policies keep track of balances and holidays. The team calendar shows who is off on any day.

How each role uses time and attendance data in Intelogos, from leadership to individual employees

Executives:

Follow Workday and Availability trends across the organization on the Dashboard, filtered by department, project or manager, and spot teams that consistently work more or less than expected.

HR & People Ops:

Run time off policies, balances, holidays and approvals in one place, and review absences on the team calendar and in attendance reports.

Team Managers:

Approve leave requests, see who is currently active on the Team page, and review each person's hours for any day on the Daily page.

Finance & Payroll:

Export hours per person and per day to CSV or Excel for payroll, with idle and manually added time shown separately. Intelogos does not calculate pay.

IT & Security:

Deploy background agents to Windows and macOS computers with scripts or MDM/RMM tools, pause tracking on a computer with Do Not Track, and use SSO/SAML and audit logs on the Enterprise plan.

Employees:

No punch clock to remember. With an Intelogos account, you can see your own hours and Availability on your Profile, request time off and check your balance.

Advanced Features

Advanced Time & Attendance Capabilities

Stay on top of hours and attendance without chasing anyone for timesheets

See Who Is Active Now

The Team page marks each person Active if they had activity in the last 15 minutes, or Away if not, next to their Workday and Availability for the selected period.

Scheduled Time Reports

Schedule daily, weekly or monthly email reports to your inbox with each person's total time and Workday, or export any report to CSV or Excel.

Ask About Hours in Plain English

On the AI Intelligence plan, managers can ask Ask AI questions such as “How many hours did Sarah work last week?” or “Which team members are consistently working more than 9 hours a day?” and get a direct answer or a downloadable report.

What to look for in time and attendance software

CapabilityWhy it mattersIn Intelogos
Automatic time captureHours are recorded as work happens, not reconstructed at the end of the week.Agents record when the workday starts and ends, breaks and idle periods on each computer.
Expected work hoursAttendance only means something against the hours people are expected to work.Company work hours plus custom policies for specific people or departments, measured by the Workday and Availability KPIs.
Absences and short daysManagers need to see missed and short days without reading every timesheet.Reports highlight each day and count full, short and absent days per person.
Long hoursConsistently long days add cost and can signal burnout risk.Daily hours and Workday averages show who regularly works more than expected. Overtime pay is not calculated.
Time off and leaveAbsences should be requested, approved and visible in one place.Requests in days or hours, approvals, policies with balances and holidays, and a team calendar.
Payroll handoffHours still have to reach whoever runs payroll.Export time reports to CSV or Excel. There is no built-in payroll integration, and Intelogos does not calculate pay.
PrivacyAttendance tracking should not turn into surveillance. No screenshots, screen recording or keystroke logging.
Mobile, kiosk or GPS clock-inNeeded for field, shift and on-site staff who don't work at a computer. Not included. Intelogos tracks computer-based work on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Shift schedulingTeams that work in shifts need to plan rosters and cover. Not included. You set expected hours per day and workdays per week, not shift rosters.

Every included capability is available on all plans, starting with Analytics. Plan details are on the pricing page.
